Regenerative Orthobiologics & Pain Management

Joint pain, stiffness, and reduced mobility can affect your daily routine, work, and favorite activities. At Regen RX, we evaluate acute and chronic musculoskeletal concerns and help patients understand their options through personalized consultations.

Our approach begins with your symptoms, medical history, and goals. We discuss potential treatment options, their risks and limitations, and reasonable alternatives so you can make an informed decision about your care.

Regenerative Orthobiologics at Regen RX

Orthobiologics is a term used to describe biological materials studied or used in musculoskeletal care. These materials differ in their composition, preparation, intended uses, and regulatory status. They should not be considered interchangeable.

Regenerative medicine is an evolving field. The evidence supporting a particular approach depends on the specific product, condition, and method of administration. Research findings do not guarantee an individual outcome.

Treatment Information

A consultation provides an opportunity to understand the proposed approach, the evidence behind it, and the alternatives. Suitability depends on your diagnosis, medical history, and the exact product being considered.

Wharton’s Jelly & Umbilical Cord-Derived Materials

Wharton’s jelly is connective tissue found within the umbilical cord. Materials derived from this tissue are a subject of regenerative medicine research. The characteristics of a finished product depend on how it is collected, processed, and prepared.

Published research on one formulation does not establish the safety or effectiveness of every product derived from umbilical cord tissue.

Exosomes

Exosomes are tiny membrane-bound particles released by cells that can carry biological signals. Researchers are studying their role in cell communication and potential medical applications.

There are currently no FDA-approved exosome products. Research findings should not be interpreted as proof that a commercially marketed product treats a particular condition.

Joint Injections & Intravenous Infusions

Intra-articular injection means administering a substance directly into a joint. Intravenous infusion means administering a substance into a vein. These routes have different considerations.

The suitability of either route depends on the exact product, its labeling and regulatory status, the proposed use, and the patient’s medical circumstances. Evidence concerning joint injections does not establish benefits from intravenous administration.

Areas We Evaluate

Regen RX evaluates concerns involving the following areas. An evaluation does not mean that every patient or condition is appropriate for a biologic procedure. Additional testing, other treatment options, or specialist referral may be recommended.

Knees

Pain, stiffness, and difficulty with walking, stairs, or everyday movement.

During your consultation, we review your symptoms, prior care, and relevant medical records to discuss appropriate next steps.

Hips

Discomfort or limited movement affecting walking, sitting, or activity.

During your consultation, we review your symptoms, prior care, and relevant medical records to discuss appropriate next steps.

Shoulders

Pain or difficulty with reaching, lifting, and overhead movement.

During your consultation, we review your symptoms, prior care, and relevant medical records to discuss appropriate next steps.

Elbows

Discomfort associated with gripping, lifting, or repetitive use.

During your consultation, we review your symptoms, prior care, and relevant medical records to discuss appropriate next steps.

Wrists & Hands

Pain, stiffness, or reduced function involving wrists, hands, or fingers.

During your consultation, we review your symptoms, prior care, and relevant medical records to discuss appropriate next steps.

Ankles & Feet

Discomfort involving ankles, feet, or toes that affects standing and walking.

During your consultation, we review your symptoms, prior care, and relevant medical records to discuss appropriate next steps.

Neck & Back

Pain, stiffness, or movement limitations requiring an individualized assessment.

During your consultation, we review your symptoms, prior care, and relevant medical records to discuss appropriate next steps.

What to Expect at Your Consultation

  1. Discuss your concerns: Tell us about your symptoms and goals.
  2. Review your medical history: We consider previous treatments, medications, relevant health conditions, and available imaging or records.
  3. Explore your options: Your provider explains potential risks, uncertainties, and alternatives.
  4. Plan the next steps: If treatment is recommended, we discuss the proposed procedure, costs, expectations, and follow-up.

Research & Education

We encourage patients to ask questions and understand the evidence behind any proposed treatment. When reviewing a study, consider the product used, the condition studied, the administration method, the number of participants, and the limitations.

Early research, laboratory findings, and individual experiences do not establish that a treatment is effective for everyone.

Frequently Asked Questions

Am I a candidate?

That depends on your diagnosis, medical history, current health, and the specific option being considered. A consultation is the first step.

Does every joint concern require an injection?

No. An evaluation may lead to recommendations for other forms of care, further testing, or specialist referral.

Are results guaranteed?

No. Outcomes vary, and some approaches have limited or developing clinical evidence. Your provider should explain uncertainties and potential risks.

Are all regenerative medicine products FDA-approved?

No. FDA establishment registration or product listing does not mean a product is FDA-approved. Ask about the exact product and regulatory basis for its proposed use.

What should I bring?

Bring a current medication list, relevant medical records or imaging reports, information about previous treatments, and your questions.

Other Pain Management Options

Depending on your evaluation, your provider may discuss the options below. Each approach has its own considerations, evidence, risks, and limitations.

PRP Therapy

Platelet-rich plasma (PRP) is prepared from a sample of your own blood to concentrate platelets. PRP is used in selected musculoskeletal and aesthetic settings, although evidence and outcomes vary by condition and preparation.

Your provider can discuss whether PRP is appropriate, along with potential risks, alternatives, and recovery expectations.

A2M

Alpha-2-macroglobulin (A2M) is a protein found naturally in blood. Concentrated preparations are explored in joint care, but evidence supporting clinical benefits remains limited.

A consultation can help you understand the proposed preparation, procedure, and available evidence. Treatment should not be presented as a guarantee of cartilage protection or prevention of joint degeneration.

Pain Management

Red Light / Laser Therapy

Light-based therapies use specific wavelengths of light and may be discussed as part of a pain management plan. Suitability and evidence depend on the device, treatment protocol, and condition.

Your provider can explain the proposed treatment and any precautions relevant to your health.

Acoustic Wave Therapy

Acoustic wave therapy uses sound-wave energy and is used or studied for selected musculoskeletal concerns. Different devices and techniques have different applications and evidence.

Your provider can discuss whether it is appropriate for your condition, including potential discomfort, risks, and alternatives. Results and recovery experiences vary.

LDN Treatment

Low-dose naltrexone (LDN) involves prescribing naltrexone at lower doses than those used for its approved indications. Its use for pain and certain other conditions is off-label, and evidence varies.

Medical review is important, particularly for patients taking opioid medications. Your provider can discuss interactions, potential side effects, and whether LDN is appropriate.

Prolotherapy

Prolotherapy is an injection-based approach that commonly uses a dextrose solution. It is used or studied for selected musculoskeletal concerns, with evidence varying by condition.

Your provider can discuss the proposed injection site, potential risks, alternatives, and follow-up requirements.

Nerve Reviver

Regen RX can discuss the Nerve Reviver device as part of an evaluation of nerve-related symptoms. An assessment is important because numbness, tingling, and nerve pain can have different underlying causes.

Ask your provider about the device’s intended use, supporting evidence, precautions, and whether home use is appropriate. Individual experiences vary.

Athletic Support and Recovery

Training, nutrition, and recovery needs vary by athlete, sport, and medical history. Regen RX evaluates your concerns and goals to discuss an individualized approach to health and activity.

Recommendations may include further assessment, nutrition guidance, or coordination with your existing healthcare and training professionals.

Your consultation may include a review of nutrition, training demands, previous injuries, medications, and relevant health concerns. Testing or treatment recommendations depend on clinical need.

Competitive athletes should check any proposed medication, supplement, or procedure against the rules of their governing organization before proceeding.
